Product Review: Ethel’s Baking Company

Ethel’s has a variety of baked goods, from brownies, to cookies, to muffins and Dandy bars.

We tried a few of their items to taste the difference. How did they stack up? They arrived in the mail quickly and were packaged quite nicely.

“We will only offer products that are considered to be superior to anything in the marketplace.  Not “it’s good for gluten-free”, but the best , period.”

The Pecan Dandy bars were amazing. They were tasty, smooth and decadent. These taste good whether you eat gluten free or not. They were a big hit. They disappeared quite quickly. I didn’t even get a chance to take a picture of them. The bars however, appear to be two servings per bar. There are 15 grams of sugar per serving, so if you eat the whole bar, that would be 30 grams of sugar and 480 calories. Be careful how many of these you eat. Pace yourself.

Next, we had the  Hummingbird Muffins which were also quite good. They are filled with pumpkin, pineapple, raisins and coconut. They are somewhat chunky from the pieces of fruit. They have a nice flavor. The muffins are smaller size muffins. Each muffin coming in at 230 calories/23 grams sugar, they have lots of good fruit packed into them.

Lastly, we had a chance to taste the Grahamberry cookies. They are honey graham cookies with cranberries. They have good flavor. I thought they were a little too chewy, but my husband and son both enjoyed them.

They also have brownies, blondies, chocolate chip cookies, and Raspberry Dandy bars, Turtle Dandy bars and Jukebox Jumble cookies which also sound quite yummy.

Pros:

  • they are made from delicious wholesome ingredients, nothing artificial
  • all products are certified gluten-free
  • dairy-free options
  • non-GMO
  • taste great
  • Available in some stores, on Amazon (several products but not all)  and on Ethel’s Baking Co. website

Cons:

  • shipping can be pricey at $10 flat rate, but they do offer free shipping over $35
  • high in sugar
  • 1 serving is 1/2 of a bar, no one eats 1/2 of a bar

The take away? These are delicious treats, made with wholesome ingredients. They are high in sugar and carbs. So make these a delicious occasional treat.
